The short answer
We install catalog and custom-printed murals in Wilton Manors homes. That includes checking your image file, measuring the wall, preparing a smooth primed surface and aligning each panel so the picture reads as one piece.
A mural turns a wall into a statement, and in Wilton Manors that statement is often personal. Some homeowners want a lush rainforest scene; others want a moody abstract, a vintage travel poster blown up to wall size, or a favorite photograph printed floor to ceiling. PrimeWall Interior Solutions installs both catalog murals and custom prints in Wilton Manors homes, about three miles from our Fort Lauderdale base. Our part is turning a stack of numbered panels into one seamless picture.
Turning your own image into a wall
Custom murals start with a file, and the file decides how sharp the finished wall will be. A phone photo that looks crisp on a screen may turn soft or pixelated when stretched across several feet. Before you pay for printing, we look at the image dimensions and tell you whether it will hold up at your wall size.
If the file is borderline, a few options help. Cropping to the strongest part of the image reduces how much it must be enlarged. Choosing a smaller wall, or a mural that covers only part of a wall, also works. Painterly or abstract images tolerate enlargement better than detailed photos of faces or text.
- Send the original file, not a screenshot or social media copy
- Ask the printer for a proof showing the panel breaks
- Check that important details do not fall on a seam
- Confirm the material: non-woven, vinyl or peel-and-stick
Reading the wall before ordering
We measure each wall at several points because few walls are perfectly rectangular. The ceiling line may dip an inch over the length of a room, and one end of the wall may be slightly taller than the other. We pass these measurements to you with bleed included, so the printer can produce enough image to trim cleanly at every edge.
Light switches, vents and outlets are noted on the layout. If the face in a portrait or the sun in a landscape would sit right behind a switch plate, it is better to know now.
Preparing a surface worthy of the image
Murals magnify surface flaws. A slight texture that would vanish under a patterned wallpaper becomes visible across a photo of a calm sky. Textured drywall is skimmed smooth and sanded. Cracks in concrete block walls are filled. Old anchors and nail holes are patched.
The wall is then primed with a wallcovering primer. On walls where the mural is light in color, we make sure the primer is uniform, since a patch of darker compound can shadow through a thin print. Steady air conditioning during this stage keeps drying predictable in Wilton Manors humidity.
Install day
We open the package and confirm the panel count, order and color consistency. A level line marks the position of the first panel. The paste method depends on the product: many non-woven murals are pasted on the wall, while others are pasted on the back. We follow the manufacturer's instructions for each.
Panels go up one by one, aligned to the image across each seam. We step back regularly to check the whole picture, since a small slip becomes obvious over the width of a wall. Once everything is in place, we trim the edges and clean the surface.
Plan on keeping the room cool for a couple of days afterward while the adhesive cures. Hanging art or shelves over a fresh mural should wait until then.
Choosing between catalog and custom
Catalog murals come from design houses that have already solved the hard problems: the image is high resolution, color tested and split into panels by people who know where seams can safely fall. You pick a design, provide measurements and order. They are a reliable route if you find an image you love.
Custom murals give total freedom, but you take on more decisions. You choose the image, check its quality, approve the proof and confirm the panel layout. The reward is a wall nobody else has, whether that is a photo from a trip, a piece by a local artist used with permission, or a design you created yourself. We are comfortable installing both and can help you weigh which route suits your project.
Where murals make the strongest impression
Murals tend to look best on uninterrupted walls without windows: a bedroom headboard wall, a dining room end wall, a home office backdrop. We also hang murals in Oakland Park, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill and Pompano Beach.
