Photo and Art Mural Installation in North Lauderdale

The short answer

For a North Lauderdale mural, start with a high-resolution image and accurate wall measurements, order with bleed on all sides, and have the wall skimmed and primed. We hang the numbered panels against a level line so the picture stays continuous from edge to edge.

Wall murals have moved well past the faded forest scenes of decades ago. Today you can order a custom print of nearly anything: a city skyline, a tropical canopy, abstract brushstrokes, a favorite family photo blown up across a wall, even a design you created yourself. In a North Lauderdale home, where rooms are often modest in size, a mural can turn one wall into the defining feature of the space. PrimeWall Interior Solutions installs murals across 33068 and the surrounding area, about six miles west of our Fort Lauderdale base. This page explains how to prepare a custom or personal image, how we handle the install, and what to watch for in a humid South Florida house.

Custom images and personal photos

Many print shops let you upload your own artwork or photograph. The biggest factor is resolution. A phone photo that looks crisp on a screen may turn soft and pixelated when stretched across a ten-foot wall. Before ordering, ask the print shop to confirm the file will hold up at your wall size, and request a small proof if they offer one.

Think about what sits in front of the wall, too. If a sofa or bunk bed will cover the lower third, the most important part of the image, a face or a skyline, should sit higher. We can mark the furniture line on the wall during our visit so you can position the artwork accurately.

  • Use the highest-resolution file you have
  • Ask for a printed proof or sample strip
  • Keep key subjects above the furniture line
  • Confirm the backing material before you order

Rooms where murals shine

Kids' rooms are a favorite: an underwater scene, outer space or a soccer stadium can make a standard bedroom memorable. Game rooms and media rooms are another natural fit, since a dramatic image behind a TV adds atmosphere. In living areas, an oversized botanical or a muted landscape gives a small room a sense of depth.

Townhome stairwells and the end wall of a long hallway are underrated spots. A mural there catches attention from several rooms without crowding any one of them.

Measuring and ordering

We measure width at the top, middle and bottom, and height on both ends. Walls in concrete-block homes and townhouses are rarely perfectly square, so we use the largest dimension. Add the bleed the manufacturer recommends, usually a few inches on each side, so the panels can be trimmed at the ceiling, corners and baseboard without losing image.

Note any outlets, switches, thermostats or vents in the wall. They do not stop a mural, but they affect where panel seams should fall.

Prep and installation

A mural needs a smooth, uniform surface. Orange-peel and knockdown textures are common in North Lauderdale homes and must be skimmed and sanded. We repair holes and cracks, then apply a wallcovering primer. Light-colored murals benefit from a tinted primer so patched areas do not show through as gray spots.

On install day, we lay out the numbered panels to check the sequence, set a level line and hang the first panel. Each panel after that is matched to the artwork, smoothed and trimmed with a sharp blade. Plates go back on, and the room is cleaned when we finish. A single wall usually takes most of a day.

Humidity, sun and longevity

South Florida has no truly dry season, and the summer months bring humid afternoons and frequent storms. Non-woven and vinyl-backed murals tolerate those conditions better than plain paper, and they can be stripped off later in large pieces. Keep air conditioning running steadily during and after installation so the paste cures evenly.

Direct sun can fade inks over the years, so shades or window film help on walls that get strong light. We also install murals in Margate, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Oakland Park and Coconut Creek.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Honest prep advice

If a wall needs skim coating, crack repair or a moisture check first, we tell you before the job starts, not halfway through it.

  2. Pattern planned on purpose

We decide where the first strip lands so the motif centers on a focal point and the least visible seam ends up in a corner.

  3. Climate-aware materials

We help you pick papers and adhesives suited to humid bathrooms, salty coastal air and rooms where the AC cycles all day.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (561) 823-3201 and we’ll talk it through.

Can I use my own photo for a mural?

Yes, as long as the file is high enough resolution for your wall size. Ask the print shop to check before printing.

What is the best backing for a North Lauderdale home?

Non-woven or vinyl backings handle humidity well and keep the image aligned across seams.

Does the wall have to be smooth?

Yes. Texture shows through a mural, so we skim, sand and prime before installing.

How long will installation take?

Most single-wall murals are finished in a day. Walls with windows or many cutouts take longer.

Can a mural go around a corner?

It can, but the image may shift slightly at the corner. We plan seams to minimize that.

Will a mural fade?

Inks can fade with years of direct sun. Shades or window film help protect the colors.
