The short answer
PrimeWall Interior Solutions serves Golden Glades with wallpaper installation, removal of old layers, wall repair, accent walls, murals and commercial vinyl. Older block homes often need careful prep first, and we include that in every scope.
Golden Glades is an unincorporated community in northern Miami-Dade County, about twenty miles south of where PrimeWall Interior Solutions is based in Fort Lauderdale. Much of the housing stock is established: single-story ranch homes with concrete-block walls, townhouses, and apartments that have been repainted and re-papered more than once. That history matters. Before a new pattern can look crisp, the wall underneath usually needs attention, and that is where a lot of our work in this area begins.
Old layers, old paste, and what we find underneath
In a home that has changed hands a few times, it is common to peel back one wallcovering and discover another below it, sometimes painted over. Removing that stack is slow, patient work. We test a small area first to learn how the layers respond, then score and steam them off in sections instead of tearing, which protects the drywall paper face or plaster beneath.
Once the wall is bare, we wash away dried adhesive, because even a thin film of old paste can cause bubbles and stained seams in the new paper. Then comes repair: filling anchor holes, re-taping loose drywall joints, and skimming areas where the surface came away during stripping.
- Painted-over wallpaper: needs perforating and extra soaking time before it releases.
- Plaster over concrete block: firm and durable, but cracks along window corners should be opened and filled properly.
- Texture left by previous owners: knockdown or orange peel finishes get skimmed flat so the pattern lies smooth.
Humidity and the long cooling season
Inland Miami-Dade does not get the same salt spray as the beach towns, but it shares the same muggy air. Between May and October, warm, wet days and afternoon storms keep indoor humidity high whenever the AC is off or undersized. Exterior block walls can also feel cool and slightly damp to the touch in a strongly air-conditioned room, which is a signal to use a sealing primer and a mildew-resistant paste.
We ask owners to keep the thermostat steady while the paper cures. Turning the AC off to save energy during a vacation the week after installation is the most common reason seams open early.
Projects Golden Glades homeowners ask about
Not every job is a whole house. Plenty of people want one room to feel different, or a quick update that does not require repainting everything.
- An accent wall behind a bed or sofa, in a geometric or textured print.
- Peel and stick panels for renters or for a home office that may change again in a couple of years.
- Vinyl wallcovering in a bathroom where a small exhaust fan struggles with shower steam.
- A mural in a kid's room or a dining nook, sized to the actual wall instead of a stock dimension.
- Wallpaper on a ceiling to give a flat, low room a bit of character.
- Grasscloth in a living room that stays dry, closed and cool.
Small businesses and shared spaces
Along the busier corridors of the area there are offices, clinics, salons and shops that need walls able to handle bumps, cleaning and steady foot traffic. For those spaces we install commercial-grade vinyl wallcoverings, which hold up to scrubbing and resist scuffs far better than residential paper. We can work in phases or after hours where that keeps your doors open.
How a visit works when you are twenty miles out
Because Golden Glades is a longer drive from Fort Lauderdale than nearby communities such as Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes or Oakland Park, we try to make each trip count. The first appointment covers measuring, a look at the wall condition, and a conversation about the pattern, repeat and how many rolls you will need. If you already bought paper, we check the batch numbers so every roll matches in color.
On installation day we protect floors and furniture, set up a cutting table, and work room by room. When we leave, trimmings are bagged, outlets and switch plates are back in place, and the space is ready to use. If something about the wall surprised us during prep, we tell you what it was and how we handled it.
